Aaron Glenn 'Highly Upset' as Jets Collapse in OT Loss to Packers

But what unfolded over the final fifteen minutes and into overtime left head coach Aaron Glenn seething. "I'll be honest, I'm highly upset," Glenn told reporters in his postgame press conference. "Tough way to lose a game, and there's a number of things that we have to fix." The 20-17 overtime defeat dropped the Jets to 1-1 on the young season and exposed critical flaws in execution, particularly in crunch time.

Late-Game Execution Falls Short

Despite holding a double-digit lead entering the final period, the Jets couldn't slam the door. The Packers mounted a comeback, forcing overtime. Glenn didn't mince words about his team's shortcomings. "We were not good on special teams, we didn't establish the run, our defense let them come down the field and score, and they had a ton of balls punched out but only came up with one of them," he said. The inability to generate turnovers proved costly, as Green Bay capitalized on New York's mistakes. "This loss is not going to define who we are and what we're about, but it's not okay," Glenn added. "Our guys know that."

Glenn defended his choice: "I trust our offense to win the game. I wanted to put the ball in our hands. Let's try and end it. The Packers then drove from their 34-yard line into the red zone, setting up rookie kicker Trey Smack for a game-winning 26-yard field goal. "If we had a seven-minute drive to open overtime — which we've done before — it would only give [Green Bay] so much time for a rebuttal. It didn't happen for us the way I planned."

Jets players echoed their coach's frustration. Wide receiver Adonai Mitchell emphasized the need for consistency: "We played a good opponent, but it's always about us. The mindset has to be the same, no matter who we're playing. We've just got to be better." Quarterback Geno Smith pointed to the team's inability to close: "We've just got to close the game better. We had the lead, we had opportunities, and didn't capitalize, so we'll focus on going back to the drawing board and getting better." Despite the disappointing result, Glenn found positives in his team's effort. "I thought we competed our butts off the whole game.
